About SuperSearch

The SuperSearch Interlibrary Loan System allows users to simultaneously search all member library catalogs and to request books, magazines, videos, etc. from any participating branch.

SuperSearch will allow patrons to perform the following functions:

  • Search the NBCLS virtual catalog of member libraries by author, title, or subject.
  • Display information about books, magazines, videos and the availability of the materials.
  • Select the library for the delivery of requested materials.
  • Request the title.
  • All that is needed to use SuperSearch is a library card.

This service is currently available to all participating libraries in Contra Costa, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Napa, Solano, and Sonoma counties. Only items that are not located at a patron’s local library may be requested. Delivery turnaround is dependent upon materials availability.

Using SuperSearch

The SuperSearch system allows you to simultaneously search several library catalogs. You have the option to search, create requests or inquire about your requests.

Enter your library card number (patron ID) in the top form box and choose your library from the list in the bottom form box. Press “SEARCH” to initiate your search. You will be able to search the collections of all libraries within the SuperSearch system for an item and having found your selection, have that item delivered to your library for check out. You can also check the status of previously ordered items.

If you do not yet have a library card, enter the word “guest” in the top form box and press “SEARCH.” As a “guest” you can search the SuperSearch system but will not be able to order or track an item. See your librarian about obtaining a library card so that you can use all of the SuperSearch features.
